Material decision matrix

Use the product table first: PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA are the ideal group. Keep the official “Not Recommended” group outside a normal recommendation, even if a third-party profile exists.

Nozzle does not erase the printer boundary

The hotend record adds a narrower nozzle rule: particle-filled filament is prone to clog a 0.2 mm nozzle, and specified abrasive materials call for hardened steel, commonly 0.4 or 0.6 mm. That guidance protects the hotend; it does not turn a material labeled not recommended for A1 into a recommended material.

01Which nozzle sizes does the A1 support?

Bambu Lab lists 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 mm. The printer includes 0.4 mm; choose stainless or hardened steel according to the material guidance.

02Which materials does Bambu Lab label ideal for A1?

The U.S. A1 table labels PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA as ideal. Other materials need separate treatment; do not extend this list by analogy.

03Does Bambu Lab recommend ABS or ASA on A1?

No recommendation is established: the official A1 table explicitly labels ABS and ASA as “Not Recommended.” This is not a claim that extrusion is physically impossible; it is the manufacturer’s operating boundary for this model.

04Can a hardened nozzle make carbon- or glass-fiber filament recommended on A1?

Not by itself. The A1 printer table still labels carbon/glass-fiber reinforced polymer “Not Recommended.” The hotend page separately says to avoid 0.2 mm for particle-filled filament and to use the specified hardened-steel 0.4 or 0.6 mm nozzle for certain materials. Follow both boundaries.
