A2L AMS setup: supported units, 19 colors and required adapters

Direct answer

Bambu Lab’s general A2L connection guide supports AMS, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT and AMS lite. The documented maximum is four AMS units plus one AMS lite for up to 19 colors. That combination uses only three AMS lite channels; the actual capacity depends on the connected units and occupied slots.

Connection and market details

Supported feeder paths
AMS, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT, AMS lite and external spool are supported connection paths. Source
Maximum color capacity
Up to 19 colors with up to four AMS units and one AMS lite Source
Maximum-configuration channels
The maximum combined configuration uses 16 channels from four AMS units and three AMS lite channels, for up to 19 colors; one filament-hub inlet is reserved for the AMS path. Source
AMS tubing and adapter requirement
A PTFE tube coupler is required; connecting two or more AMS units needs a separately purchased 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter. Source
A1 hub requirement
A2L has built-in buffering and does not need the A1 series AMS hub. Source
AMS cable generation boundary
Use the cable supplied with AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT; a first-generation AMS cable may cause communication issues with those units. Source
Separate drying power
Drying cannot be powered directly by A2L. AMS 2 Pro requires its power adapter and AMS HT its power cable; use the official power accessories specified by Bambu Lab. Source

Why the maximum is not a full set of AMS lite slots

The A2L connection guide, rather than the shorter launch announcement, is the useful reference here. It explicitly describes simultaneous connection and explains that an AMS path takes one filament-hub inlet otherwise used by AMS lite.

The maximum-color example is a specific channel configuration, not a guarantee for every mixture of AMS models. Match the guide’s diagram to the units you own before deciding that an existing collection reaches the advertised maximum.

Check the small parts before buying another feeder

The official guide requires a PTFE tube coupler and calls for a separately purchased 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter when connecting two or more AMS units. A2L has built-in buffering and does not need the A1 series AMS hub. Do not copy an A1 shopping list unchanged.

Cable generation also matters. Use the supplied cable for AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT; Bambu Lab warns that a first-generation AMS cable may cause communication issues with these units. Follow the illustrated official installation sequence rather than improvising from connector shape.

Feeding and drying are different power requirements

Connecting a drying-capable feeder does not mean the printer can power its drying function. AMS 2 Pro needs its power adapter and AMS HT needs its power cable. Use the official power accessories specified in the guide.

This guide settles the connection question, not what a particular regional store includes in a bundle. Check the exact regional cart and package list separately; a supported accessory is not necessarily included.

FAQ

Bambu Lab A2L frequently asked questions

Each answer stays within the facts and sources shown on this page.

01Does an A2L bundle automatically include the equipment needed for 19 colors?

Do not assume that a package includes the maximum configuration. The connection guide describes four AMS units plus one AMS lite, using sixteen AMS channels and three AMS lite channels for up to 19 colors. Check the exact package list separately.
