Build an event around the pet and direction
Pair the pet’s key or chip before scheduling. In My PetSafe, select the door, then Set up a Schedule and Get Started. Name the event, choose its pets, start time and repeating days, then save the access choice. Check AM or PM and selected days before saving.
- Full Access permits a paired pet to travel both ways.
- In Only permits entry but not exit.
- Out Only permits exit but not return entry.
- No Access blocks both ways, including paired pets.
Edit, pause or delete?
PetSafe requires an event to be deleted and recreated when editing. Open Schedule, select the event, choose Delete Event and confirm Delete, then create the replacement.
For a temporary pause, keep the event and use its switch instead: grey is off, blue is on. Review the selected pets and permitted direction when restoring or recreating an arrangement.
Read the notification before choosing a fix
An alert is useful because of what it reports. Door-use information, the lock state and battery status should send you to different checks—not to the same reset or replacement action.
- Use notification: review the reported door activity.
- Lock notification: compare the reported state with the intended control or schedule.
- Battery notification: consult the size-specific power guide.
When the problem is recognition, leave the scheduling task
A pet that is not admitted may need an identifier or power check rather than another schedule. PetSafe’s support route covers the exact paired key, supported Medium-door chip and power separately.
Use the compatibility guide if the chip type is uncertain, or the key-check guide if a known identifier is not working. This page covers the U.S. My PetSafe route; it does not establish other regional app support or a guaranteed notification-delivery time.

01Can I pause a schedule without deleting it?
Yes. Use the event switch under Schedule: grey is off and blue is on. Editing an event is different—PetSafe says to delete it and create a replacement.
