What exactly is missing from the camera view?

Direct answer

A missing live feed, an absent older event and a missing globe recording need different checks. Identify the camera and type of video first. Then inspect its switch and the applicable viewing or retention limit; a missing item alone is not a diagnosis of failed camera hardware.

Only older events are missing

Check whether you are looking at front-camera history rather than live video. Free access retains those events for 2 days; Whisker+ lists 30-day video storage. Compare the age and type of the missing item with that entitlement before treating the archive as a streaming failure.

Changing the camera switch or Wi-Fi band is not evidence that an older recording should still be available. Use the camera-access guide if the issue is the service tier.

Live video stops, or opens to a black screen

If a free live session stops with an error, check whether the daily allowance has been reached. Whisker documents that exhausting it stops the feed automatically. That symptom does not by itself identify a broken camera.

For a black Live View, Whisker recommends checking the phone’s internet connection and that the robot remains on Wi-Fi, then retrying after a short wait. Also inspect View Camera → Controls: camera-off stops live video and events. Keep a quota message, black picture and deliberately disabled camera as separate observations.

The missing item is a per-visit globe recording

This is the availability branch, not a verified repair fault. The official guide says globe recordings are coming soon while also listing them as a membership benefit. Ask whether that feature is available to your account before treating an empty globe archive as broken hardware.

What to send support when the checks do not explain it

Record the camera, whether you requested live or saved video, the camera-switch state and the access tier. Add the supported network family you are using. This describes an observable problem without guessing a failed module.

Use Whisker’s model-specific support path for the next procedure. Do not apply a factory-reset or disassembly sequence from a different model to an unexplained missing feed.

01Live View opens black. What should I check before assuming a camera fault?

Check the phone’s internet connection and that the Pro is still connected to Wi-Fi, then retry after a short wait. Inspect the camera control as well. These are Whisker’s connection and enablement checks, not proof that every black screen has one cause.
