Check the mode before diagnosing a connection fault
Three different situations can look like a tracker that is not updating quickly enough. Identify which one applies before interpreting the delay as a hardware fault.
- Ordinary tracking: the documented update interval is 2–10 minutes.
- Starting or ending LIVE: allow for about 30 seconds to start, and check whether the usual five-minute session has ended or was extended.
- Inside a Power Saving Zone: LIVE is unavailable while the tracker remains in the zone; check the Wi-Fi or Base Station zone setup.
Read the network and GPS lights separately
Press the power button once on DOG 6. The upper-left LED represents the mobile network and the upper-right LED represents GPS. Read the colours in that order to identify which connection needs attention.
- Green–green: both connections are present.
- Red–green: GPS is present but cellular is not. Tractive advises moving to better mobile coverage, waiting a minute and checking again.
- Green–red: cellular is present but GPS is not. Move outside or to open space, wait a minute and check again.
- White–white: the tracker is in a Power Saving Zone; check the mode before diagnosing a connection fault.
Separate your phone from the tracker's positioning hardware
The Tractive app requires iOS/iPadOS 17 or later, or Android 10 or later with Google Play Services. An active Tractive subscription is also required. These are concrete checks you can make before asking support about an unresolved service problem.
DOG 6's supported positioning systems are GPS, GLONASS and Galileo. They do not establish the exact regional cellular modem, which remains unconfirmed in the available model evidence. When checking travel or a difficult service area, ask about the exact device and destination rather than treating a satellite-system list as a mobile-network compatibility list.

Choose a plan for history and sharing, not a stronger signal
Premium includes 365-day location history and Family Sharing. Basic, where offered, provides 24-hour history. Supported health features are included in both plans. Start with how far back you need to review journeys and whether other people need shared access.
Worldwide coverage is listed as a Premium plan feature. That wording is a service entitlement, not evidence that every place has usable signal or that a particular regional modem has been identified. Keep the plan decision separate from a destination-specific service check.

FAQ
Tractive DOG 6 frequently asked questions
Each answer stays within the facts and sources shown on this page.
01Do I need Premium for DOG 6 health features or longer location history?
An active subscription is required, but supported health features are included in both plans. Premium provides 365-day location history and Family Sharing; Basic, where offered, provides 24-hour history. Choose for those plan differences rather than assuming health features alone require Premium.
02Will an older phone work with the DOG 6 app?
Check its system version: the Tractive app requires iOS/iPadOS 17 or later, or Android 10 or later with Google Play Services. An Android version number alone does not confirm that Google Play Services is available.
03Does the DOG 6 satellite list prove mobile-network compatibility?
No. GPS, GLONASS and Galileo describe positioning support. They do not identify the exact regional cellular modem, which remains unconfirmed in the available model evidence.
