Implanted-chip access is documented for cats using the Medium SmartDoor. The supported formats are FDX-B 15-digit, FDX-A 10-digit, AVID H, and AVID Encrypted 9- or 15-digit. If that combination does not apply, paired Pet Door Keys are a documented route for dogs and cats.

Whisker recommends standard-weight clay clumping litter. Litter-Robot 5 LitterHopper is compatible but requires firmware 5.9.6 or later and Whisker app 1.38 or later before installation; its capacity is 17.3 cups. Those checks are separate from included consumables and optional Whisker+ membership.

Litter-Robot 5 Pro supports 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi and IPv4 or IPv6 addressing. It does not require a 2.4 GHz-only network. Use the Whisker app for setup, then separate a failed connection from a missing camera feature or a video-access limit.

Free access includes up to 5 minutes of daily live viewing from both cameras and 2 days of front-camera event history. Whisker+ provides unlimited live viewing and 30-day storage. To stop live video and event recording, open the Pro in Whisker, then View Camera → Controls and use the camera power switch.

Blue moisture LEDs mean stop charging, wipe with a lint-free cloth and air-dry the DOG 6 for 24 hours. Excessive heat, swelling, bite marks or visible damage also mean stop. Only a dry, undamaged tracker belongs in an ordinary power check; a loose attachment needs a separate check against the 2.8 cm collar-width limit.

Charge DOG 6 XL through USB-C with a 5V supply; a full charge takes about two hours and the full LED bar indicates completion. Both LEDs blue is a moisture stop: do not charge, wipe with a lint-free cloth and air-dry for 24 hours. Charge only once the port is completely dry; if it remains wet or the blue moisture LEDs remain on, keep the charger disconnected. A single runtime figure remains unconfirmed because Tractive's published battery descriptions differ.

DOG 6 XL is recommended for dogs above 20 kg and weighs 70 g. Its listed collar-width limit is 4 cm, with the supplied Clip XL. Check the dog's size, measure across the collar strap and identify the actual clip before treating an awkward fit as a device fault.

For a pet-access problem, first confirm that SureFeed Connect is using the pet’s registered microchip or the named Sure Petcare RFID Collar Tag. If the pet is recognized but hesitates at the moving lid, use training. If the bowl works but app records are missing, check the Hub/app route instead.

SureFeed Connect’s feeding records and app portion settings use a Sure Petcare Hub linked to the home router and Sure Petcare app. Installing the app alone does not replace that Hub. Pet recognition is a separate route using the feeder’s registered microchip or Sure Petcare RFID Collar Tag.

SureFeed Connect uses 4 C-cell batteries; the low-battery indicator flashes when they need changing, so do not wait solely for the stated typical 6-month lifetime. For portions, set a food type and target weight in the Sure Petcare app, then add food until the portion lights flash. The 400 ml bowl volume is not a meal weight.

Start SureFeed Connect training with the lid closed and press the rear Training Function button once. The lid opens and the orange light flashes once every few seconds; it stays open after the pet eats at this introductory stage. Increase lid movement only when the pet is comfortable, using Sure Petcare’s staged sequence below.

Use a per-pet schedule for the recurring routine and remote lock or unlock when you want to change the door’s lock state. My PetSafe also reports use, locking and battery status. These functions manage access; they do not change which implanted chips the door can recognize.

Medium SmartDoor Connected requires 4 C-cell alkaline batteries; Large requires 4 D-cell alkaline batteries. The optional SmartDoor power adapter is documented for either size. Match the supply to the door, then use PetSafe’s battery or no-power instructions for the actual maintenance task.

The Pro product page states 3–30 lb for automatic use; the shared official manual states 2–30 lb and includes Pro-specific components. This page cannot confirm which minimum applies. Do not use either number as safety clearance for a small cat; obtain instructions for the exact unit from Whisker.

A missing live feed, an absent older event and a missing globe recording need different checks. Identify the camera and type of video first. Then inspect its switch and the applicable viewing or retention limit; a missing item alone is not a diagnosis of failed camera hardware.
Sure Petcare
For pet access, SureFeed Connect uses a registered microchip or the Sure Petcare RFID Collar Tag. For app-connected records and portion settings, it needs a Sure Petcare Hub. These are separate requirements: choose the correct identifier for the pet and the correct connection for the app.

DOG 6 XL's built-in SIM requires an active Tractive subscription covering its mobile service. You also need a supported phone and the Tractive app. Its 2–3 second LIVE tracking interval describes the mode, not guaranteed coverage at every destination.

The confirmed DOG 6 parts have different jobs: the rubber clip attaches the tracker to a collar up to 2.8 cm wide, the USB-C cable charges it from a 5V supply, the port cover has an official replacement route, and the Base Station supports a Power Saving Zone where LIVE tracking is unavailable.

DOG 6 normally updates every 2–10 minutes. LIVE tracking may take about 30 seconds to start and normally ends after five minutes unless extended; it is unavailable inside a Power Saving Zone. Check that mode first, then confirm a supported phone and active subscription. GPS, GLONASS and Galileo support positioning, not a promise of mobile coverage everywhere.

Check two things separately: whether the listed CAT 6 Mini collar fits your cat, and whether you want a tracker that needs an active subscription. The product listing specifies cats weighing 3–8 kg and a 19–22.9 cm neck range; the integrated tracker-and-collar setup weighs 32 g.
